Happy playing!
Love,
Mrs. McBride & Ms. Mawji
I am moving my blog to this page so we can keep all our information in one place. Thank you for reading!
Ms. Mawji shared this resource with the grade 3/4 classes. It is a fun and free site you can use and practice your precorder. You can make an account and your data will save, or alternately you can just play as a guest. Click here to visit Joytunes.

Just a reminder that practices will run from 3 - 4pm. The calendar page reflects this, however the notice that was sent home did not have the end time.
Thank you for the support of our musical! Love, Mrs.McBride Coming up in just four weeks is the 11th annual Music Monday Celebration. Connor Ross's song, "We Are One" is being used as the anthem again this year. You can view the music video with lyrics here.
Our U of C student teacher, Ms. Mawji, has been working with all of our classes. The grade 3/4 students continue to learn and explore with their precorders. Please ensure you are prepared by bringing your precorder and book to every music class.
The grade 1/2 students have begun a World Music unit with Ms. Mawji. Students may come home asking, "Where are we from?" We are working on drafting a large map plotting where each student has roots while we explore various types of music from many different areas. Annie Kids A calendar of scheduled practices will be coming home with students who have acting parts. There will be a few after school practices coming up. Please make note of them by checking the Calendar here An order form for tickets is also coming home soon. Please fill out and return as soon as possible to ensure your seat to see the show. There will be a waiting list available for afternoon as well as evening performances - see flyer for more info. Thanks for reading. Love, Mrs McBride ANNIE KIDS
Last week was a great introduction to choreography for the students. This week we hope to polish up what we started last week so again, this is only the SONGS and not the entire scene. Monday – You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile - Music Rm Tuesday - N.Y.C. - Music Room Wednesday – Little Girls / Easy Street – Kindergarten Room Thursday – Maybe / It’s the Hard Knock Life - Music Room Please bring your lunch and script. READ-A-THON This week is the Cranston Read-a-Thon. On Monday students will need to have a book with them as we will be doing D.E.A.R. periodically throughout the day. Precorder Booklets I have provided each student in grade 3/4 with a yellow booklet with songs we are working on with our precorder. It is VERY IMPORTANT that your booklet is in class with you as well as your precorder. PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING BOTH to your classes. If you did not receive your booklet yet, you will get yours this week. Thanks for reading. Love, Mrs.McBride We are excited to have Ms. Mawji, our U of C Student Teacher, back in our music room. She is gradually increasing her teaching time and has been working on improvisation with the grade 3/4's and their precorders. Reminder to all students that your precorder is required to be with you for all music classes. Some students may be coming home with a reminder letter to please return your precorder in order to be prepared for our classes.
The grade 1/2's have been continuing to work with rhythm and various non-pitched instruments around the music room. We also had fun using these rhythm instruments with the book, "Five Little Monkeys." ANNIE KIDS In order to get into the choreography parts, we are breaking our rehearsals down by SONGS this week. Tuesday - N.Y.C. - Music Room Wednesday – Little Girls / Easy Street – Kindergarten Room Wednesday – You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile - Music Rm Thursday – Maybe / It’s the Hard Knock Life - Music Room As usual, please bring your lunch and script. Looking forward to the fun!! Love, Mrs. McBride For those of you who were waiting to hear about a schedule we have decided to meet on Wednesdays at lunch for the time being. Any students who are in scenes 1-7 are asked to bring their LUNCH and their SCRIPT to the Music room this Wednesday, March 2, and will be further divided into spaces to work based on character & scene. Characters who are only in scene 8 do not need to attend this meeting.
Thanks for reading. Love, Mrs. McBride Annie Kids
Today we successfully had our first read through of Annie Kids. Parents, if your student has landed a role with a script, lease take the time to go over their parts with them. Most of the kids were well prepared and for a first run through, we were so pleased! The teachers responsible have a meeting on Friday where we are going to fine-tune the details of the upcoming rehearsal schedule. We anticipate having it ready for students on Monday with Tuesday being the first potential rehearsal date. Thank you for your patience while we take the time to organize the schedule thoroughly. Precorders This is another reminder that students in grades 3 & 4 are required to have their precorder with them for each and every music class. Please help your student to be prepared for class by having their instrument with them on music days . Some students opt to leave their instruments in a labelled bin in my classroom. I do give students the option to take them home, but if they arrive empty handed for more than one class I will ask them to leave their precorders in the classroom the next time they return them to school. Occasionally I will send a reminder letter home so parents are aware of the situation. It makes it hard for students to be successful with the curriculum when they are not prepared for class. Thanks for reading. Love, Mrs. McBride With all the excitement around Annie Kids auditions I completely forgot to post an update about our participation in the Flag of Canada's 50th anniversary project with Hometown Music.
Please visit the final digital project here. You can also download the recording of 28,725 students voices singing O Canada from coast to coast.
