Mrs. McBride
I am moving my blog to this page so we can keep all our information in one place. Thank you for reading!
For those of you who were waiting to hear about a schedule we have decided to meet on Wednesdays at lunch for the time being. Any students who are in scenes 1-7 are asked to bring their LUNCH and their SCRIPT to the Music room this Wednesday, March 2, and will be further divided into spaces to work based on character & scene. Characters who are only in scene 8 do not need to attend this meeting.

Annie Kids
Today we successfully had our first read through of Annie Kids. Parents, if your student has landed a role with a script, lease take the time to go over their parts with them. Most of the kids were well prepared and for a first run through, we were so pleased! The teachers responsible have a meeting on Friday where we are going to fine-tune the details of the upcoming rehearsal schedule. We anticipate having it ready for students on Monday with Tuesday being the first potential rehearsal date. Thank you for your patience while we take the time to organize the schedule thoroughly. Precorders This is another reminder that students in grades 3 & 4 are required to have their precorder with them for each and every music class. Please help your student to be prepared for class by having their instrument with them on music days . Some students opt to leave their instruments in a labelled bin in my classroom. I do give students the option to take them home, but if they arrive empty handed for more than one class I will ask them to leave their precorders in the classroom the next time they return them to school. Occasionally I will send a reminder letter home so parents are aware of the situation. It makes it hard for students to be successful with the curriculum when they are not prepared for class. Thanks for reading. Love, Mrs. McBride With all the excitement around Annie Kids auditions I completely forgot to post an update about our participation in the Flag of Canada's 50th anniversary project with Hometown Music.
Please visit the final digital project here. You can also download the recording of 28,725 students voices singing O Canada from coast to coast. Flip through the digital book or click here to see our student contribution explaining why Calgary is a great part of Canada! Thanks for reading! Love, Mrs. McBride PRECORDERS
This is a reminder to all students in grade 3/4 that we are now beginning our precorder unit. If your instrument is at home, please bring it back to school for your next music class. You are welcome to take your precorder home to practice as long as you remember to bring it back for each and every music class. If you forget your instrument, I will ask that the next time you bring it back that it stays in the classroom bin so you will be prepared for music class. I do have a few extra precorders available to purchase if you cannot find your precorder, or if for some reason you did not order one on time. They are available from me for the cost of $5. ANNIE KIDS We have concluded our many auditions and will be announcing the cast tomorrow. If your child is selected they will be coming home with a very important contract which will need to be returned this Friday, Feb. 19th in order for your child to accept the position. We appreciate all of the hard work the kids put into their auditions and look forward to the work ahead to bring this musical to life! Thanks for reading. Love, Mrs. McBride Final auditions will be held tomorrow at lunch in the music room.
Students who missed their original audition or call back due to illness or family holiday are invited to come and give their audition. Students should be prepared to read their lines and may be asked to sing "Tomorrow." We hope to have all decisions made by the end of the week. Thanks for the support! Love, Mrs.McBride Things have been moving along in the music room with Annie Kids auditions.
At the auditions today, I told the students that we may need to see them again tomorrow at lunch to hear them sing. Their teachers will let them know tomorrow morning if they should come to the music room to see us again. Thanks for your continued support. Love, Mrs. McBride PRECORDERS - Grade 3/4
The grade 3/4 students who ordered precorders will soon be receiving them. If you previously purchased a precorder, I am asking you bring it back to school by FEBRUARY 16 so I can ensure that you have your instrument in good working order and it is ready to be played. If you missed placing your precorder order, please send it in or let me know ASAP so I can accommodate all students needs. ANNIE AUDITIONS Annie auditions continue tomorrow with those signed up for the additional orphans including Molly, Duffy, Pepper, Tessie, July and Kate. Please take your lunch to the music room when the bell rings and be ready to go! Wednesday some students may be asked to a Call Back and they should be prepared to sing a song from Annie Kids of their choice, or we will sing "Tomorrow." Please know that we are doing our best to match students to roles and hope to have decisions finalized for the coming week. Role announcements WILL NOT be made before the 16th. While we appreciate your excitement, please respect the time needed to give everyone a chance to have the audition they signed up for. Thanks for reading! Love, Mrs. McBride Our auditions kicked off today and all I can say is WOW!
So many of our students showed up and gave it their all today at the auditions for Annie, Mr. Warbucks and Grace Farrell. We were overwhelmed by the interest and enthusiasm the kids are showing towards the musical and are working very hard to accommodate all the students who signed up for potential roles. FRIENDLY REMINDER: While everyone in grades one to four will participate in the singing chorus of Annie Kids, there are a limited number of speaking roles which need to be filled through the audition process. Please know that it is very courageous of these young people to sign up and recite their lines and lyrics and we TRULY APPRECIATE ALL THEIR HARD WORK AND EFFORTS :) Parents, please take the time to remind your children that not everyone will be able to earn the roles that they may desire, but they are still a part of the production whether they are cast to a role or remain in the chorus. We saw over 100 students today and have 65 more students signed up to audition tomorrow. There are another 50 students on Tuesday well as 69 more for Additional roles. Students may be asked to come to a "call back" audition on Friday the 5th, or Wednesday the 10th where they will be asked to sing a portion of a song from the musical. The song can be any from "Annie Kids" of their choice, or we will use "Tomorrow" as a default song. See the link above for the lyrics to all the songs. I am not permitted to post the audio files due to copyright restrictions. Most songs are found online easily enough. I appreciate your support of the music program and this HUGE undertaking.
